Reports Suggest Bigg Boss 17 Winner Munawar Faruqui Faces Potential Arrest Again, This Time for 3 Years – Here’s What You Should Know!

It has been three years since Munawar Faruqui narrowly escaped the controversy surrounding his release from jail over serious allegations. He faced charges for making objectionable remarks about Hindu deities during a stand-up comedy show in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

After spending 35 days in Indore’s Central Jail, he was granted relief on 6th February 2021 following his application for interim bail, which could potentially be challenged if a chargesheet were to be presented to the court during an ongoing inquiry.

The Tukoganj police station was expected to file a chargesheet in Munawar Faruqui’s case, but there has been a delay. In a conversation with PTI, Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Yadav stated, “Our investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the chargesheet has not yet been submitted to the court.”

According to the same report, an official from the senior prosecution department revealed that the delay was due to pending permission approval from the Madhya Pradesh state government, following which they would file the chargesheet as per the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) mandate against Munawar Faruqui from Bigg Boss 17.

On January 29, 2021, the police formally requested to file charges against him under Indian Penal Code section 295-A. It remains to be seen when the Madhya Pradesh State Government will approve the filing of the chargesheet.

The punishment upon being charged guilty under IPC Section 295-A is described on indiacode.nic.in as: “Whoever, with deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class of citizens of India, by words, either spoken or written, or by signs or by visible representations or otherwise, insults or attempts to insult the religion or the religious beliefs of that class, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.”

Following his participation in Bigg Boss 17, Munawar Faruqui was recently seen addressing a gathering in Dongri, where his fans had assembled to congratulate him for winning the reality show. However, even this event faced controversy when an FIR was lodged against him for allegedly using a drone to capture visuals in Dongri.
