Release of Akshay Kumar’s Oh My God 2 Hangs in the Balance as Censor Clearance Delays Impact Marketing Campaign with Only 18 Days Remaining

Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam’s upcoming social comedy, Oh My God 2, is one of the most anticipated films of 2023. The film recently made headlines when it was denied certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India due to its bold subject of sex education. There was hope that the Revising Committee would clear the film, but it seems that the producers are still in a wait-and-see mode. The film is a sequel to the 2012 film Oh My God, which starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal.

The original film was a critical and commercial success, and it is being hoped that the sequel will be able to replicate its success. Oh My God 2 is directed by Amit Rai and produced by Akshay Kumar’s Hari Om Entertainment. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on August 11, 2023. However, with less than three weeks to go for its release, Akshay Kumar’s upcoming social comedy, Oh My God 2, is still awaiting clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The CBFC denied certification to Oh My God 2 on July 7, 2023, citing the film’s “bold subject of sex education”.The producers of the film appealed the decision to the Revising Committee, which is expected to make a ruling within the next week. If the Revising Committee upholds the CBFC’s decision, the producers will have to make cuts to the film in order to get it certified. It is still possible that Oh My God 2 will be released in theaters on August 11, 2023, but the producers will have to act quickly if they want to avoid any further delays.

The Oh My God 2 team had planned to launch the trailer on July 27, two weeks prior to its theatrical release. However, the film has not yet been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). If the trailer is not cleared by July 27, the team will have to launch it on July 31.
