Bollywood has been speculating a lot about who would star in the upcoming biopic about the first Indian astronaut to travel to space, Rakesh Sharma. The script was initially offered to Aamir Khan and the actor graciously admitted that Rakesh Sharma’s portrayal would suit Shah Rukh Khan more than it would suit him. However, not soon after they began shooting with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, Shah Rukh opted out of the movie and things got messy for the film.
Since then, the speculations have been on and a lot of actors have been considered for the role, including star and heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor. However, it has recently come to light why Shah Rukh Khan opted out and chose not to do this movie, and the revelation has been made by writer Anjum Rajabali. Anjum Rajabali has reportedly said that Shah Rukh Khan is “shaken up” after Zero, and that is the reason he chose to reject Saare Jahan Se Achcha.
As quoted by the the Indian Express, Anjum Rajabali has said, “If you are asking me, there was a problem with the script (of Zero). Himanshu (Sharma) is a very talented person but things go wrong sometimes. I don’t think he said no to Saare Jahan Se Achcha because of the space (angle). I think he is also pretty shaken up. He was banking a lot on that.”
This biopic movie on the first Indian to go to space, Rakesh Sharma, has been titled Saare Jahaan Se Acha and will be directed by Mahesh Mathai. The movie is going to portray Sharma’s life story from the time entered Indian Airforce till he became the first Indian to travel in space.
Let’s see who will finally agree to play the lead role in this much talked about and much awaited biopic!
