Rare Win for De De Pyaar De 2: CBFC Passes Film with Zero Cuts

This seems rare but not strange. In a rare and welcome development, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared De De Pyaar De 2 without demanding a single cut or modification. Known for its strict censorship—often requiring scenes or dialogues to be altered even in family entertainers—this clean pass is a pleasant surprise for audiences and filmmakers alike.
As per the portal Bollywood Hungama’s report, it has been confirmed that the upcoming Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Rakul Preet Singh starrer received a U/A (13+) certificate from the CBFC’s Examining Committee on November 6. The film runs for 147 minutes and 10 seconds (2 hours, 27 minutes, and 10 seconds) and is set to release in cinemas on November 14.
To start with, the film seems to be a contrast to the earlier one. This is especially notable given the first De De Pyaar De (2019), starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Rakul Preet Singh, faced several cuts by the CBFC. Bollywood Hungama had reported that the original film saw visuals altered—Rakul Preet Singh’s alcohol bottle was replaced with flowers—and two dialogues with double meanings were modified to meet censor board requirements.
With these details in hand, we can claim that we have second update without any cuts coming this month. De De Pyaar De 2 is the second film this month to receive a zero-cut clearance. Earlier, Haq—starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam and based on the sensitive Shah Bano case—was also passed uncut with a U/A certificate.
Despite its controversial theme, Haq was cleared without cuts on October 28 and released in cinemas on November 7. It runs for 136 minutes (2 hours and 16 minutes). This rare leniency from the CBFC marks a positive shift, allowing filmmakers to present their vision intact and audiences to enjoy the full cinematic experience.
