Ranjan Chandel Breaks Silence on Leaving ‘The Sabarmati Report’ Over Creative Differences

Vikrant Massey’s highly anticipated film, The Sabarmati Report, has encountered a major setback with director Ranjan Chandel’s departure from the project. It was previously reported by Bollywood Hungama that certain portions of the film would be reshoot by Tushar Hiranandani. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Chandel confirmed these reports and shed light on the reasons behind his departure.
Chandel explained that while filming had been completed, there were creative differences regarding proposed additions to the film. “The makers wanted them, so I decided to step back from it,” he stated. He further elaborated that the sensitive nature of the film’s subject matter played a significant role in his decision. Addressing the rumors surrounding the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggesting changes that caused the delay, Chandel clarified, “However, that isn’t true at all.” The release date of the film remains uncertain, but the makers are reportedly aiming for a new theatrical window in September or October 2024.
For those who may not be aware, a source close to the production team previously mentioned, “The film is not going for a massive reshoot. The actors were also on board with this decision.” Additionally, Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that The Sabarmati Report would not be able to meet its original cinema release date on May 3.
