Ranbir Kapoor: ‘I wanted to be Amitabh Bachchan. When I grew up, I wanted to be Shah Rukh Khan!’

The action film Shamshera features Ranbir Kapoor in the role of a larger-than-life hero. In the much anticipated visual spectacle trailer, Ranbir, who is returning to the big screen four years after he gave audiences the smash hit Sanju, astounded everyone with his tremendous intensity as the tribal warlord Shamshera and his son Balli! His previously unseen avatars on the internet sent audiences and fans into a frenzy, and interest in seeing him live is at an all-time high.

In the second episode of a three-episodicc candid video series titled ‘RK Tapes’, Ranbir talks about his favourite Hindi film heroes and how they have shaped his consciousness over the years! The superstar says “I wanted to be Amitabh Bachchan. When I grew up, I wanted to be Shah Rukh Khan! Finally, I had to be Ranbir Kapoor”. Check out Ranbir speaking straight from his heart in the second episode – ‘The Hindi Film Hero’ here :

Ranbir is seen as saying, “By the time I grew up these Hindi Film heroes had become my real life heroes. Everything I did, how I dressed, how I spoke, subconsciously in everything I did was inspired by my heroes. But strangely enough, when I became an actor, I wasn’t choosing the kind of films my heroes would choose. So I may have satisfied the actor in me, but when I look back at that 12- year-old, Hindi Film Hero obsessed Ranbir, I feel he still has to fulfill his dream.”

Ranbir Kapoor’s movie Shamshera is set in the made-up city of Kaza, where a brutal authoritarian commander named Shudh Singh imprisons, enslaves, and tortures a warrior tribe. This is the tale of a guy who was sold into slavery, who later rose to leadership positions and became a legend among his community. He never stops fighting for the independence and honor of his tribe. Shamshera is his name.

The action-packed, heart-pounding show takes place in the 1800s in the center of India. The actor who plays Shamshera in the movie, Ranbir Kapoor, has a lot of promise. In this remarkable casting choice, Sanjay Dutt plays Ranbir’s arch-enemy. Their confrontation will be one to watch out for as they will viciously pursue one another without mercy.

On July 22, 2022, Aditya Chopra will release this action-packed spectacle in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi.
