Ramayana’s VFX Studio Prime Focus Sees 33% Stock Surge in 3 Days, Posts Rs 110 Crore Profit

Prime Focus, the renowned post-production and VFX company behind Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana, is on a remarkable upward trajectory. On Tuesday, its shares hit the 10% upper circuit for the third consecutive day on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), closing at Rs 191.25. Over just three trading sessions, the stock surged 33%, fueled by significant investments from prominent investors.
Notably, ace investor Ramesh Damani acquired 8 lakh shares at Rs 142.55 each, while Utpal Sheth bought 17.5 lakh shares at the same price. Additionally, funds managed by Madhusudan Kela’s Singularity AMC made substantial purchases, collectively acquiring 48.5 lakh shares—equivalent to nearly a 2% stake. Other key investors like FE Securities and Samyak Enterprises also contributed to bulk and block deals, with marquee investors accumulating about 3.3% of Prime Focus, valued around Rs 146 crore.Meanwhile, some overseas investors trimmed their holdings. Singapore-based Marina IV Pte Ltd sold 1.1% of the company, and Augusta Investments exited with a 1.75% stake.
Adding to the buzz is actor Ranbir Kapoor’s reported investment of Rs 15-20 crore in Prime Focus through a preferential allotment. He was among the proposed allottees when the company approved issuing over 46 crore shares, targeting approximately 12.5 lakh shares.Owned by Namit Malhotra, Prime Focus has established itself as a global leader in post-production and visual effects. Its subsidiary, Double Negative (DNEG), boasts eight Academy Awards for films like TENETDune: Part One, and Dune: Part Two.
Malhotra currently holds a 4.81% stake in the company. Prime Focus’ financials further showcase its resurgence. In Q1 FY26, it reported a net profit of Rs 110.47 crore, rebounding from a loss of Rs 158.07 crore in the same period last year. Revenue rose nearly 23% year-on-year to Rs 976.82 crore. Quarter-on-quarter, the company turned profitable from a prior loss of Rs 251.62 crore. The excitement around Prime Focus is amplified by its key role in Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, slated for release in two parts: Part One at Diwali 2026 and Part Two at Diwali 2027.
