Amitabh & Jaya Bachchan arrive to pay last tribute to Shivkumar Sharma

Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan, along with wife Jaya Bachchan paid their last tribute to musical legend Shivkumar Sharma.

On Wednesday afternoon, the celebrity couple were photographed at Shivkumar Sharma’s funeral in Mumbai. The late music maestro wrote the music for Yash Chopra’s 1981 film Silsila, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. His compositions include the classics Dekha Ek Khwaab and Ye Kahan Aa Gaye Hum.

Shivkumar Sharma, 84, died on Tuesday morning at his Pali Hill home in Mumbai from a heart attack. The santoor maestro was given a state funeral, according to a statement issued by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s office on Tuesday.

He began his musical career as a tabla player at the age of five, but quickly discovered his calling in santoor. Shivkumar Sharma’s list of honours included the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1986, the Padma Shri in 1991, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2001.

In 1967, he worked on the successful album Call of the Valley with Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Pt Brij Bhushan Kabra. Shivkumar Sharma is survived by his wife Manorama, as well as his sons Rahul and Rohit.
