Rajesh Sharma DENIES Insect Bite During Fauzi Shoot; Says, “Nothing Happened on Prabhas’s Film Set”

Actor Rajesh Sharma has officially set the record straight regarding reports of his hospitalization earlier this year, denying that his health condition was caused by an incident on the sets of the Prabhas-starrer Fauzi in Hyderabad. The veteran actor clarified that no accident or insect bite occurred during filming, explaining that an infection stemming from a long-standing skin issue on his right leg led to his sudden illness after he returned home to Kolkata.
In July, Sharma was admitted to a Kolkata hospital suffering from a severe leg infection and high fever. Around that time, director Sudipa Chatterjee, a close friend of the actor, posted on social media claiming he had been bitten by a poisonous insect or spider on the Fauzi set. The post was subsequently deleted. Speaking to NDTV, Sharma debunked the rumors, stating that the film unit and lead actor Prabhas were in no way responsible, praising the production team for their support.
Explaining the root cause of the medical emergency, Sharma shared that he had neglected a pre-existing skin condition on his leg for a considerable time. The situation worsened significantly upon his arrival in Kolkata due to elevated blood sugar levels from his diabetes. He admitted that failing to address the initial symptoms early on caused the infection to escalate.
Addressing Chatterjee’s deleted social media update, Sharma noted that his friend had posted the message out of genuine concern but had been given incorrect information. The actor confirmed that he has now completed his medical treatment and is undergoing a steady recovery at home. Optimistic about his health, he expressed hope to resume his professional commitments and return to active film shooting within a week.
On the work front, Rajesh Sharma will next appear in Haiwaan, co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. Directed by Priyadarshan, the feature serves as the official remake of the Malayalam film Oppam and is scheduled to hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
