Raghava Lawrence returns as the director of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmmi Bomb’

laxmi bombRaghava Lawrence is finally back as the director of the Hindi version of his hit comedy-horror Kanchana featuring the evergreen star, Akshay Kumar. The Tamil director made the official announcement on same through his Twitter account.

It was noted that there had been a few clicks in between but, the director has finally made up with Akshay Kumar, and will be helming the Hindi version of ‘Kanchana’ as was planned, earlier.

Mentioning on a tweet, Lawrence cleared everything, “As you wished I would like to let you know that I am back on board as a director of Laxmmi Bomb.” He also thanked the film’s lead actor and co-producer, Akshay Kumar, for sorting out the grievances between the two.

Lawrence earlier had taken the same route through his Twitter account to announce his exit from Laxmmi Bomb just a couple of weeks ago. Lawrence left the remake of Kanchana (2011) after claiming that he wasn’t consulted for the first-look poster of the film.

He stated, “I was informed about this by a third person. It is very painful for a director to know about his movie’s first look release from others. I feel very disrespected and disappointed…This shouldn’t happen to any director.”

Reports said that after Lawrence’s departure from the film led its producers, Shabina Khan and Tusshar Kapoor to find a suitable replacement for the same. Akshay in the meanwhile had taken control of the project and also met Shabina and Tusshar for deciding over the future course of action.

Laxmmi Bomb also stars Kiara Advani and is targeted to release by June 2020.

Coming to the storyline, Kanchana, the inspiration movie for the film is the second entry in the popular franchise that began in 2007 with Muni. Kanchana shows the life of a ghost-fearing a man (played by Lawrence) who gets possessed by the vengeful transwoman (Sarathkumar). The film has spawned two remakes till date that was released in April 2019.
