Another Controversy for Indian Idol 12, MNS demands apology from the makers after Aditya Narayan’s remark on Alibaug; Udit Narayan says, “the entire burden came upon Aditya”
Popular TV reality show Indian Idol 12 has been in controversy for a long time now. Recently the members of Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) asked for an apology from the makers and the host of the show Aditya Narayan for showing ‘Alibaug’ in a poor light. The party even warned them for action if they failed to apologize on national television.
For the unversed, during a recent episode of the show, Aditya was seen asking contestant Sawai Bhatt if he thinks they have come from Alibaug.
This didn’t go well with MNS Chitrapat Sena chief Amey Khopkar. According to him, this line is a part of a street lingo that is used to make fun of Alibaug people.
Even, during Facebook LIVE, Khopkar said that he had already spoken to Aditya Narayan’s father Udit Narayan regarding the issue, along with the channel, ‘The channel has been informed that an apology is a must in the upcoming episode or else MNS will be forced to take action,’ he said.
Previously, Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar was invited to the show. While he was seen praising the contestants and enjoying the show. He later called out the show and said the channel asked him to do so.
When talking about the same in an interview with Aaj Tak, Udit Narayan said, “I saw Amit’s episode, I could see that he enjoyed it (the performances). When you agreed to be on the show, you should not have said such things after coming out. Now, I have said this and I will also be dragged into it like Aditya. We are often invited so we can watch new talent and also polish them, we are also paid for this. This process of learning and teaching continues throughout life. Often, we are not too strict with talent, fearing they may be overwhelmed with negativity.”
Talking about Aditya Narayan’s statements, Udit added, “Aditya is not mature yet. He is childish and emotional. He has been on the show (Indian Idol) for some time and has got attached to it. That is why he got too sensitive. If you see, no one from the platform spoke (about the controversy) and the entire burden came upon Aditya.”
