PVR & Inox witness a boost in Alia Bhatt & Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra

Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences on September 9. While some praised the premise, the VFX, and the acting, others found the clichéd dialogue and love tale to be unbearable. Despite this, the movie is doing extremely well at the box office.

In its first weekend, the movie’s global box office took in 200 crores. Within two days of its distribution on the international market, it reached 160 crores. As a result, the shares of PVR and Inox have increased by 5%. For those who are unaware, the movie supposedly has a huge budget of 410 crores.

An analyst at Edelweiss shared an opinion and said, “We continue to track the PVR and Inox merger, which would yield a lot of synergy benefits. Multiplexes have come together to celebrate the ‘National Cinema Day’ on 16th September (Friday), offering tickets at just ₹75. For improvement in performance of multiplexes, it is important that audiences redevelop the habit of watching movies in cinemas, instead of OTT platforms. Strong numbers for Brahmastra is a welcome sign for the industry, but key question is – will the producers of Brahmastra make money? It is important for the industry’s long-term health.”

PVR and Inox Leisure, on the other hand, are preparing to unite to become a sizable chain of multiplexes with a network of more than 1500 screens in tier III, IV, and V cities. PVR has scheduled a meeting with the shareholders and creditors for October 11 in order to receive final approval.

There have been rumors for a long that the Brahmastra attack has caused Inox and PVR’s share values to plummet. Business Insider said that the movie theater chains had lost 800 crores. But PVR CEO Kamal Gianchandani dismissed all the rumors and refuted the claims.
