Pushpa 2 Day 7 Box Office: Allu Arjun’s Blockbuster Crosses ₹1000 Cr Globally, Outshines Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD

The question that has been on the minds of cinemagoers lately is whether director Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu ArjunRashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, will become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time. With the movie now emerging as the fastest Indian film to surpass the Rs 1,000 crore mark globally, it may be time to shift the focus from “if it will claim the top spot” to “when”. Having entered the elite club in just six and a half days, it wouldn’t be surprising if Pushpa 2 eventually surpassed director Nitesh Tiwari’s Aamir Khan Dangal (2016), which earned Rs 2,070.3 crore globally, to become the all-time highest-grossing Indian film.
Despite a more than 50 per cent drop in weekday collections compared to weekend figures, the Allu Arjun-starrer continues its dominant box office run, earning as much in a single day as some films do over their entire lifetime. As of 7 pm on Wednesday, Pushpa 2 had earned Rs 27.71 crore domestically, according to Sacnilk, bringing its total India nett collection to Rs 672.71 crore. In the Telugu market, the film has seen an overall occupancy rate of 23.69 per cent, with the morning occupancy at 18.10 per cent and the afternoon rate touching 29.27 per cent.
The figures were somewhat similar in the Hindi market too as Pushpa 2 recorded an overall occupancy of 21.43 per cent, with morning and afternoon shows achieving 14.42 per cent and 28.44 per cent, respectively. To overtake Dangal as the highest-grossing Indian film, Pushpa 2 must first surpass global box office records set by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1,788.06 crore)RRR (Rs 1,230 crore)KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1,215 crore), and Jawan (Rs 1,160 crore). Currently, Pushpa 2 ranks fourth in India nett collection, behind Baahubali 2 (Rs 1,030.42 crore), KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 859.7 crore), and RRR (Rs 782.2 crore). The film surpassed the lifetime domestic nett collection of Nag Ashwin’s Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD (Rs 646.31 crore) today and that of Atlee’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan (Rs 640.25 crore) on Monday.
