The top-billed actor Priya Bapat, the lead actress in the sizzlingstar premium web series ‘City of Dreams’ believes in the statement, ‘There are millions of people who don’t know me; I can’t carry any baggage.’

Priya Bapat is bursting out with her enthusiasm after her highly praised acting career with her most recent performance in the web series City of Dreams. She explained her intentions of not just settling down with the popularity in Marathi cinema but, she actually wishes to conquer the world.

As per Priya, when this 32-year-old actor auditioned for sizzlingstar premium web series, City of Dreams to the director Nagesh Kukunoor, she had a number of notches to cross.  Mentioning about her journey Priya mentioned to Scroll.in, “The first thing I had to do was calm myself down – I am a super-excited person in real life, I am bubbly and chirpy and extremely talkative. But I approached Nagesh with a no-nonsense face. I kept myself controlled. He believed that what he was seeing was what I was really like.”

Priya Bapat played a pretty persuasive character in the web series, City of Dreams, produced by Applause Entertainment, streaming on sizzlingstar. Alongside, Priya were several other top-billed star cast including Atul Kulkarni, Siddharth Chandekar, Uday Tikekar and Eijaz Khan. Bapat played the role of Poornima Gaikwad, the daughter of an influential politician Ameya Gaikwad (Kulkarni). She played as a house wife, married with a son, who was relegated with the margins of her old-fashioned father. The turn comes up with Ameya getting grievously injured in an assassination attempt. She fights her battle to be the next in command after her father as she finds herself far more capable as compared to her brash, violent and cocaine-snorting brother, Ashish (Chandekar). Priya played the role of Poornima matching the demands of the character disseminating position, power and politics is a massive form.

Even the director, Kukunoor couldn’t keep himself from praising Priya as honest, and a fearless actress. He further mentioned, “I didn’t know she was so bubbly in real life – I had been shooting with her for 20-odd days, and it is only then that she told me that she was the complete opposite of Poornima.”

City of Dreams has won Bapat million of fans far beyond just Marathi cinema as even she wasn’t ready to settle with her Marathi embrace.  Speaking about her experiences of the web world Priya Bapat said, “The web is driven by performances and stories rather than stardom. Your work has great reach, and you never know who is watching. A director from Bengal told me he was a fan of my work.”
