Baring a small section of the audience among us, everyone remembers the show Chandrakanta which was aired in the 1990s on the national channel having it had huge TRPs thanks to the intriguing plot. The show was actually a novel by an acclaimed Hindi writer which was adapted on screen with beauty queen Shikha Swaroop and Shahbaz Khan playing the lead role. Previously there have always rumors of the show being remade as it had gone off air abruptly. Finally the project is being remade in a modernized version. Channel Life Ok will be telecasting the show in it’s prime slot. The trailers and promos are out on the internet.
Chandrakanta, the name of a princess and her lover a warrior prince are the protagonists of the story. The role of the princess will be played by none other than Krithika Kamra who is a popular TV actress and anchor. The other leading actors of the show are Gaurav Khanna, Harssh Vashisht and Arohi Kapoor. The promos of the show has a women who is almost bare back and there are glimpses of arrows and fire. The set up looks modern and also quite over modernized in comparison with the old one which was shot with opulent setting but real back grounds.
Well, the interesting thing is the show Prem Ya Paheli Chandrakanta Serial is being remade by not just Life OK alone but also by Colors. Colors also released a small trailer of the show on the same day as Life OK did which is reportedly out of competition. Now the latest report says that although Life OK’s was to begin the serial in February, there will be a change in plan since the two shows releasing at the same time will create competition.
The show on Life OK is titled Prem Ya Paheli, Chandrakanta. So that makes for an interesting beginning for the classic show.
