Ponniyin Selvan 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus mints Rs. 24 crores on first day in all languages

Ponniyin Selvan 2, Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus and much-anticipated historical drama, finally opened theatres on April 28 and had a strong first day. The film, which received great reviews from critics and audiences alike, earned Rs. 24 crore nett on its opening day at the Indian box office in all languages, which is a rather outstanding figure for a Tamil film.
According to the most recent box office statistics from the United States, Ponniyin Selvan might earn around $2 million from the premieres on day one. The film had an overall 59.94% Tamil Occupancy on the first day. Ponniyin Selvan 2 was made on a massive Rs. 250 crore budget, the second biggest for any Tamil film after Shankar’s Robot 2.0 (2018). Given the film’s high budget and ongoing promotion costs, the film must maintain the same momentum for the rest of the weekend and the coming weekdays.
Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Shobhita Dhulipala, and Aishwarya Lekshmi reprise their roles as Aditha Karikalan, Nandini, Ponniyin Selvan, Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, Kundavai, Vaanathi, and Poonguzhali from PSI 1.
“Ponniyin Selvan-2” is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 historical fiction novel of the same name. It narrates the story of Arulmozhivarman (Jayam Ravi), a strong monarch of the south who went on to become the famed Chola ruler Rajaraja Chola I.
“Ponniyin Selvan-2” was released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam by Allirajah Subaskaran’s Lyca Productions.
