According to reports, the Akshay Kumar-starrer action comedy Bachchhan Paandey had a fantastic second day, grossing Rs 11 crore. The film debuted at the box office with a total of Rs 13.25 crore. Thus, it has a two-day haul of about Rs 24.25 crore.
While this is not a very amazing start for a movie starring Akshay Kumar, the film has had to compete with Vivek Agnihotri’s runaway success The Kashmir Files, which is breaking various box office records practically daily despite a cheap budget and tracking like the second Baahubali film. On Saturday, the film grossed more than twice as much as Bachchhan Paanday, despite the fact that it was only in its ninth day of release.
Bachchhan Paandey also stars Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Arshad Warsi. In India, the film got the second-largest opening of the pandemic era. Surprisingly, Akshay’s own film Sooryavanshi, which is set in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, is at the top of the list.
Bachchhan Paandey is expected to pick up on Sunday before tapering off during the week. If the film is to recoup its costs, it will require robust growth and long legs.
