Parambrata Chattopadhyay (Chatterjee) happens to be an Indian Bengali actor, while the director of the film and television. He was born on 27th June 1981 in Calcutta, West Bengal. He completed his schooling from Dolna Day School followed by Patha Bhavan, Kolkata for his schooling. He completed his Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English literature from the famous Jadavpur University. He then went to TV Production from Bristol University, Bristol, United Kingdom wherein he completed his Master’s in Film and TV Production from Bristol University, Bristol, UK. He then returned to India and then started his career in regional (Bengali) TV and films.
He was seen rising up to the nationwide fame once he was seen starring in the film Kahaani (2012), which he did with Vidya Balan. He then was seen in the film called Bhalo Theko (2003), which is Vidya Balan’s debut film. He then did a couple of other movies, which include Yaara Silly Silly, Traffic, Short film Ankul and the upcoming movie Pari, while as a director, he did Gangs of Ghosts. He did a number of Bengali movies and some of his recent films include Glamour, Baastu Shaap, Highway, Hercules, Sold, Chocolate, Zulfiqar, Hemanta, and Chotushkone to name a few.
Some of the upcoming movies include Reunion, Hould Boni, Sraboner Dhara, and one untitled movie that has been announced. Some of the Bengali movies that he directed include Jiyo Kaka, Hawal Bodol, Lorai: Play to Live, and Feluda while Sonap Pahar happens to be his upcoming movie. He has embarked upon with his own production company called Workshop Production Pvt. Ltd. in association with the group called Sambandh Group headed by Dipak Raha. He has won a couple of awards, which include the Bengal Film Journalists’ Association award for the category of the Most Promising Actor Award for the film Nishijapon in 2006 apart from winning Anandalok Puraskar for Best Actor (Male) for the Hemlock Society in 2012 besides the Anandalok Puraskar for the Best Actor (Male) – Hemlock Society in 2012 and Rituparno Ghosh Memorial Award for the Hawa Bodol in Zee Bangla Gaurav Samman 2014.
