After ‘Padmavati’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ faces the political controversy

As the dust of controversies surrounding the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie – Padmavati started settling down, we now hear similar threats being hurled to the Salman Khan starrer mega-budget movie called ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. With barely any time remaining to it’s release, the political controversy for the sequel started thickening. The fanatic group based in Mumbai called MNCS (Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Sena) has threatened to the Cinema owners to stop the booking for the film for denying the space to the upcoming Marathi movies to be released the same date. Interestingly, the Congress along with the Shiv Sena seemed to join this agitation making things bad to worse in their own party lines.

What’s the Controversy?
Taking a dig into this controversy, the MNCS President Amey Khopkar elaborated saying that the screening of the film seemed to be hampering the Marathi films released on the same date called ‘Deva’ and ‘Gachhi’, which are unable to get the slots in the Mumbai based theatres and the head of the fanatic group now demand the theatres to give the due space to these said movies. The parties opposing the film demand that the theatre owners should give a fair chance to the M Town movies as well and went on saying that the film Tiger Zinda Hai is also banned in Pakistan as the censor chief has objected over the demeaning content of the movie.
The fanatic group went on to say that the theatre owners should give the prime time to the Marathi films rather than giving space only to the Bollywood films. On the other side, the Shiv Sena claimed that the plight of M Town filmmakers have been pathetic as they are often compared to low time hawkers who sell their products over the pavements, while the Congress remained divided at one end. One of its MLA in Mumbai demanded the space given to the M Town movies on the other side the Sanjay Nirupam, another Congress leader supported Tiger Zinda Hai.
Wrapping Up
Looking at the controversy surrounding the Salman Khan starrer movie called Tiger Zinda Hai, nothing tangible seemed to have come out of it. Ironically, all the fanatic groups, who have been agitating against the sequel are finding reasons to be covered in the media. The best and most readily available stuff is the Bollywood, which has of late become an easy target for such groups and individuals who are looking for a reason to come into limelight. When we see 90 percent of the theatre owners had blocked with the Salman Khan starrer movie, it is easy to make the film their target. Interestingly they sleep rest of the year without even caring which film released in the M Town.
