PadMan releases in China bags decent at box office in its first weekend

The Akshay Kumar starrer movie PadMan released in Feb 2018 was released last Friday in China. And as per reports, the film has done well at the box office in the opening weekend. The film managed to score 11 Crores on the first day giving a good figure at the box office as compared to other movies released earlier including 102 Not Out, Sultan and Hichki. The Akshay Kumar starrer movie managed to score around 2.04 million USD. The film had the story of an entrepreneur and social activist called Arunachalam Muruganandham who helped to embark upon affordable and low-cost sanitary napkins in India.

In fact, the film even performed better than the Hollywood movies like The Grinch and Searching, which were released on the same date in China. The film as directed by R Balki but it failed to gain the figure in its opening week when released in India. PadMan in China in its first weekend scored around 38 Crores. In fact, it failed to compete with other movies as well in B Town, which included Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion along with the Irrfan Khan-starrer film Hindi Medium released last year.

 

PadMan scored around 5.27 million USD, which is around 38 Crores on the first weekend, which has helped in making the overseas collection from 63.5 Crores to 168.5 Crores. This has helped the film to enter into the list of top 10 highest grossing B Town movies in 2018 getting the 10th position. As per reports, China’s known ticket buying site called Maoyan has given a projected figure of around 9.9 million USD for PadMan. This will even surpass the collection of Stree, and the Alia Bhatt film Raazi. This is indeed a significant achievement for PadMan, so, what do you think about it, do let us know about it.
