OMG: Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is legal soup as a Rajasthan filmmaker moves to court

Toilet Ek Prem Katha trailer

Ever since the trailer of the film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has hit the media, the film has been in a constant discussion. As per reports, a Jaipur based filmmaker Praatik Sharma was seen moving to the court against the makers of Akki starrer movie called Toilet: Ek Prem Katha for stealing the punch line and the content of his movie called Gutrun Gutar Gun. So,  it is a copyright infringement case that has been filed by Sharma against the production company called Plan C Studios, which is an alliance between Reliance Entertainment and Friday Filmworks that seems to have helmed by Neeraj Pandey and Shital Bhatia coming in association with Viacom18.

The makers of the film have been asked to appear on July 7 in the Jaipur Metropolitan Court. The court has then issued a notice, which is returnable on July 22. When the news agency was seen contacting the makers, they simply refused to comment on the same. The filmmaker from Rajashthan has alleged the makers of the film to steal the idea along with many of the dialogues that have been present in his movie. With this movie, the film likely to get stranded though the makers have time to sort out things and make the release on time.

The Central Board of Film Certification has given clean chit but with the copyright infringement issue, the makers have to sort out the things inside the court. On the other side, the Rajasthan filmmaker has claimed that he has sent his film to different film festivals including the festivals like Delhi International Film Festival, Australia and Rajasthan International Film festival and Indian Film Festival Melbourne. The filmmaker also informed that when he is ready to release his movie this month the distributors have claimed that it is very much similar to Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which has made him to issue a notice to the makers.
