Just a day after the filmmakers from the IFTDA (Indian Film and Television Directors Association) came forward to support Kushan Nandy’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, that has been ordered a number of verbal and visual cuts, the censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani has was seen hitting hard out the supporters of the film for vlyfing the CBFC. The CBFC Chief states that brouhaha with the IFTDA seemed to have been planned in order to bring it out publicity for Babumoshai Bandookbaaz in collusion with the famed “disgruntled elements” from the Censor Board.
The chief pointed out the timing of their revolt against the Board . THe filmmakers Kushan Nandy (director) and his producer (Kiran Shroff) were seen asking for a certificate in the first week of July and the board has given their movie an ‘A’ certificate with asking them for a number of cuts which included the graphic scenes of the love making and numerous explicit references that are to be inflamed body parts. He further said that the duo had the choice of approaching the Revising Committee or the Tribunal called the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal but they chose to visit the Tribunal directly.
Now when we see the Tribunal to be seen with their film this week, they were suddenly able to decide in order to create a stir around their movie. And thus CFBC becomes the right target for them which came unplanned and in an irrational fashion. The filmmaker who were present at the press conference claimed that the board has given a very absurd explanation to the 48 cuts being suggested for an A certified movie by saying that even the kids watch the A certified film hence the cuts are to be implemented. This has therefore created an uproar by the filmmakers and others present in the show.
