Shaad Ali’s upcoming movie on live-in relationships, Ok Jaanu, has been cleared up by the censor board with a ‘UA’ certificate. As per reports, the movie had only four verbal cuts which were minor alterations in the dialogue. Surprisingly, the censor board had barely any objection to the live-in relationship. The film starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur comprises several kissing scenes but surprisingly the censor board didn’t have a problem with that.
However, When the original (Tamil) Oh Kadhal Kanmani had gone for censor certification in March 2015, there was loads of hue and cry for the live-in relationship theme. The makers then had to return with a couple of changes to get the release. Now, they get a chance to spend time with one another to know whether they are compatible or not. That’s a social reality. The official said that they must recognize and respect the changes in social mores.
On the other side, the censor board had received a backlash in the past over the fact that they gave UA rating to Befikre even after it had Ranveer Singh in nude with kissing scenes. And had given A rating to films like Aligarh which had no such scenes but only dealt with a mature subject. The board had their own reason to give the film the said ratings, which may however surprise many in the industry of filmmaking. Similar is the case with OK Jaanu film, which has been at the rage of debate, so, the current buzz is that the film OK Jaanu has got U/A certificate from the censor board.
