Not Cancelled! Love & War Italy Schedule Back On – Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Shoot Grand Climax in Italy This December

In a significant production update for one of Bollywood’s most ambitious projects, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War has revamped its shooting plan. Earlier reports suggested the international schedule in Italy was cancelled, but insiders now clarify that the shoot was never cancelled—rather, it was reshaped to better fit actors’ schedules. About ten days of filming took place in Mumbai, with the grand climax now set to be shot in Italy by December 2025.Well-placed industry sources reveal,

“Sanjay Leela Bhansali recreated 1970s Italy right here in Mumbai for Love & War. Around ten days of shooting wrapped up before Diwali, and the final 20-day schedule, featuring the film’s grand climax, is planned for December 2025 in Italy. The team is aiming for an Eid 2026 release.”
While initial reports cited logistical challenges leading to a full cancellation of the Italy schedule, the updated approach paints a different picture. The Italy-bound scenes began in Mumbai on elaborately constructed sets replicating 1970s Italian locales. After completing this phase, the production will shift to Italy for the climactic sequences, preserving authenticity while accommodating actors’ availability.
This two-step strategy offers multiple advantages. Filming in Mumbai helped minimize scheduling conflicts and logistical complexities amid challenging international travel conditions. The Italy schedule will then bring the scale, elegance, and grandeur that Bhansali’s films are renowned for—perfectly timed for a festive Eid 2026 launch. With stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal onboard, the intricate shoot has been closely watched. Originally, a 45-day Italy schedule was planned but revised due to logistical hurdles.
Now, the creative team has found a smart middle ground—starting with Mumbai shoots and scaling up the international segment when actor calendars align.  This shift also underscores Bhansali’s dedication to delivering the opulent atmosphere his films are known for by filming the climax on-location in Italy rather than relying solely on interior sets in Mumbai.
The upcoming Italy schedule is expected to last around 20 days, after which post-production will likely kick off in full swing. With an Eid 2026 release targeted, anticipation is building for a grand festive premiere. While it remains to be seen if the film maintains its full visual grandeur, with Bhansali at the helm, expectations are sky-high.
