As Sunny Deol is busy in his election campaigns for his candiature at Gurdaspura in Punjab, we hear that his 2002 hit film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha will have its sequel. Anil Sharma who is behind making the prequel plans for the sequel of the pre-partition love story that carried Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. The film was released with Aamir Khan movie Langaan and it went on to create history making the film win.
After the 17 years, the makers are now planning to embark with a sequel of the movie. The film emerged out as a clear winner at the box office and also for the career of Sunny Deol. However, this plan seems to be a far-fetched idea at the moment as the lead actor has no plans for the sequel. When Sunny Deol was asked about being the part of such sequel he said he is currently focussing in his political career and has left a couple of films as well offered to him so forget about doing such a film.
Now, the reason behind rejecting the idea of embarking upon a Indo-Pak amity film that involved cross-border love stories, this did work in the early 2000 and films like Gadar and Veer- Zara did well at the box office. Doing such film at this age when things are sensitive between the two nations would not be a good idea. At least this is not for Sunny Deol as he is busy in his elections campaign and fighting for a Lok Sabha seat on a BJP Ticket. Both Sunny Deol and the director Anil Sharma have denied doing a sequel of the film calling it rumor.
