Ramayana Update: Sunny Deol Set to Portray Hanuman in Ranbir Kapoor-Led Nitesh Tiwari’s Epic, Bagging a Whopping 45 Crores

Director Nitesh Tiwari, known for “Dangal,” is gearing up to present the epic saga of Ramayana in a fresh adaptation. The film has been creating buzz due to its stellar cast, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying ‘Lord Ram,’ Sai Pallavi as ‘Mother Sita,’ and KFG’s Yash as ‘Raavan.’ Recently, it was reported that Vijay Sethupathi has been approached to portray the role of Ravana’s brother, Vibhishana. The latest addition to the headlines is Sunny Deol.

Since October last year, there have been reports of Sunny Deol being approached to play Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial. Although there was no confirmation at that time, it was rumored that he was in discussions with the makers and negotiating a ₹45 crore deal. Now, it appears that the negotiations have concluded successfully, with Sunny giving his consent to the role.

According to a recent report by Pinkvilla, after months of negotiations, Sunny Deol has agreed to play Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s monumental portrayal, which features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. The veteran actor is reportedly thrilled to have the opportunity to play Lord Hanuman, a role that will leave a lasting impression on Indian Cinema.

A source close to the project shared, “It’s a casting made in heaven, as Lord Hanuman stands for Strength, and who better than Sunny Deol in the present times to play the part with utmost conviction. While Ramayana: Part One features Sunny Deol in a guest appearance, the second and third part of the epic trilogy will have his complete presence. The makers are confident that after Dara Singh, it’s Sunny Deol who would be synonymous with Lord Hanuman in modern times.”

Addressing the social media discussions regarding the age gap between Ranbir Kapoor and Sunny Deol’s characters, the source emphasized that his role is a ‘legacy part’ and mentioned that the teams are undeterred by the chatter on social media. It was also revealed that Ranbir holds immense respect for Sunny Deol, considering him one of the finest actors in Indian Cinema.

As for Sunny Deol’s remuneration, there is no update on whether he has finalized his fees for the film or if he will still receive a ₹45 crore cheque. The film is expected to commence production in March 2024, with Part 1 scheduled to conclude by July. However, extensive post-production work is anticipated for the project.
