Dongri Ka Raja Movie Review

dongri-ka-raja

Dongri ka Raja is the love story of a sharp shooter working for the underworld master in the suburbs of Mumbai. What happens when the shooter falls in love and decides to change his ways and live a normal life?

The Story and plot: Raja, played by Gashmeer Mahajani, is the right hand of the Don, Mansoor Ali. He was an orphan when he was adopted and raised by Mansoor and molded him in such a way that till now he had not realized there is a heart pounding inside him until he falls his love one fine day. On his first sight of the beautiful Shruti Prabhu ( Reecha Sinha), he forgets the life he had been living till now and starts treading a new path. It would not escape the eyes of his master and the love birds are indeed caught. What follows is their efforts to escape from the clutches of Mansoor and their trials. In between there are number of characters like Mansoor wife, played by Ashwini Kalsekar and police inspector played by Ashmit Patel.

The Loopholes: The story is simple and nice but haven’t we seen this story many times on the screen not only in Bollywood but in each religion language. The story seems to be planted somewhere in the last decades as there is no freshness in the characters or the script. We have clichéd images and dialogues in each and every scene of the film as the makers have tried to replicate the blockbusters with the hit formula.

Performances: The lead actor Gashmeer Mahajani has made entered Bollywood after his stint in the Marathi cinema. He has done a decent work of the character of Raja. His transition from a criminal to a lover is nice to watch. He can be reckoned a plus point in the film. Ronit Roy is another skilled actor who has played his part well. Ashmit Patel’s performance is rather ordinary. Reecha Sinha and Ashwini Kelkar have put up a good performance.

Technical Aspects: With such a story you have nothing much to expect from the technical team. Director Hadi Ali Abrar has done a decent job executing the story. The songs like “piya Tu piya”, “Naina” are soothing to the ears but over all there is not much efforts made in the music department.

The Last Word: Dongri KA Raja is totally avoidable as there is nothing that stands out from the entire film. From fight scenes to emotions there is hardly any originality or freshness in the movie that will beckon the audience.
