After the successful drive taken up by Sacred Games trailing to the release of the second season as well, Sacred Games season 2, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is all set for his second stint with the Netflix streaming platform.
Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be headlining another Netflix project with an upcoming film which is an adaptation of Manu Joseph’s 2010 novel Serious Men.
Siddiqui will be playing the role of Ayyan Mani as mentioned by the streaming giant in a press note. This Netflix film will be directed by Sudhir Mishra (Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Daas Dev, Hostages) and will be produced by Bombay Fables and Cineraas Entertainment. Serious Men is one of the 15 Netflix original films that the streaming platform had announced earlier this year. The release date and other detailed cast list for Serious Men is awaited, yet.
Joseph’s novel is set across an exploration of the caste and class system in Mumbai through the experiences of Ayyan, a Dalit man who works as an assistant to the upper-caste director of a scientific research institute. Frustrated due to the circumstances and no room for his intelligence, Ayyan spins a lie elaborating about his 10-year-old son to be a prodigy. The novel has already won The Hindu Best Fiction Award in 2010 and the PEN Open Book Award in 2011.
Siddiqui in a press note further mentioned about Serious Men, saying, “I am very excited to be a part of Netflix’s Serious Men and work with a creative mind like Sudhir Mishra. This is my second stint with Netflix and I hope that people give Ayyan Mani the same love that they extended to Ganesh Gaitonde from Sacred Games. For now, I am eagerly awaiting the release of Sacred Games 2 and can’t wait to see the audience’s reaction.”
Sacred Games, Netflix’s first Indian original series was an adaptation of Vikram Chandra’s novel with the same name. The release date for the second instalment of Sacred Games is yet to be announced. The supporting cast includes Pankaj Tripathi, Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey.
