Natkhat is a 33 minutes short film, which comes with a compelling story of rape culture, which is yet to be explored in the film industry. The film has Vidya Balan and Sanika Patel in the leading role, while it is directed by Shaan Vyas, with a story jotted down by Annukampa Harsh. It is co-produced by Vidya Balan, Sanaya Irani and Ronnie Screwvala under the banner RSVP. The film has premiered on three big film festivals and is now available for a single viewing on YouTube.
The story revolves around Vidya as mother and her son Sonu. It touches the issues like the juvenile activity, home realm along with touching the secual abuse and issues surrounding the same. The film nicely captures the ways the young minds perceive this issue along with making strong point about societal and parental responsibility. Besides, the film is all about power and captures the idea when young boys are able to get the awareness about how power is taken over women. It touches the male dominated society where violence against women is normal.
Talking about the performances, Vidya as usual has nailed with her incredible skill sets and so is the kid along with others in the. The other elements like direction, music, screenplay, photography and technical elements went smooth. However, with a niche theme, it gives a less touch of perfection. Lastly, the film happens to put strong words on religion, society and even the entertainment industry that glorifies violence.
