National Sports Day: Sports are one of the basic joys of life. Some people like to watch it; some want to play it and achieve their goals in sports. Sports exist for every one of us. From cricket to football to hockey, we Indians have great sports athletes whose accomplishments have made our nation proud.

On August 29th, India celebrates National Sports Day to honour the hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand, on his birth anniversary. This day is also devoted to all the sports heroes and champions of our country. Along with this, it aims to create awareness about the significance of sports among people and inspire them to take part in sports activities.

Let us have a look at some inspiring TV dramas that were about sports and started with the lead characters’ dream of achieving heights in sports. We would say that you must watch them if you haven’t.

Udaan is a former Colors TV series and one of the longest-running shows on the channel that gained popularity during its time for its unique concept. It revolves around the girl, ‘Chakor,’ who is declared a slave by the rich landlord of the village.
She is a happy-go-lucky girl who believes she is a free bird. The girls fight for the rights of the villagers and vow to make them free from the slavery of the evil landlord.
Chakor, who is a god-gifted athlete and a great runner since childhood, has had a dream of becoming the best marathon runner. She escapes with her marathon coach to achieve her marathon dream and vows to return to the village after 10 years.

Humse Hai Life (Channel V)

Humse Hai Life was a youth show that aired on Channel V featuring Abigail Jain as ‘Siya’. Siya is a middle-class orphan girl who lives with her uncle and brother. The girl, who has a huge passion for boxing, soon enters the Elite with the ambition to become a top boxer.
This show is primarily focused on the teen audience.

Meri Durga (Star Plus)

Star Plus’ 2017 TV drama ‘Meri Durga’ is all about a father-daughter relationship. It all starts with Durga, whose father works as a peon to educate her and give her the best life ahead. Her father has only one wish: that his daughter will one day make him proud. Despite trying hard, Durga is unable to match the expectations of her father, realizing that it’s not her thing.

After discovering her incredible running talent, her father inspires her to pursue her dreams in sports. All the struggles she encounters on her journey to achieve her goals make it interesting and inspiring.

Udti Ka Naam Rajjo (Star Plus)

This is the latest offering from the channel that started airing on August 22nd, 2022. It brings to the small screens a story of a girl named ‘Rajjo’ who is a gifted athlete who is forbidden by her mother to run due to her dark past. An interesting twist lies ahead when she is separated from her mother due to the flood. She floats in the water only to find herself in an unknown place when she wakes up. This is where she gets saved by a man who motivates her to pursue her running ambitions.
