Nagraj Manjule to direct a film on wrestling

Nagraj Manjule is a well-known filmmaker active in Indian cinema today. Nagraj is renowned for always bringing something unique with a social message to his new projects, whether they are feature films or short films.

Following the underwhelming reaction to his previous directorial endeavor, Jhund (2022), starring Amitabh Bachchan, many moviegoers were eager to learn about his next project. After a year of anticipation, Nagraj has finally revealed crucial details about his next directorial project during an interview with Film Companion.

“There is a script I’m working on right now for my next film. It is based on wrestling. And if everything goes well, I will start the production from next month”, Nagraj revealed.

Nagraj Manjule also revealed that he is also working on the script of two Hindi films, “Yes, I’m working on the script of two Hindi films. If everything goes according to plan, I will reveal it soon”.

Nagraj is presently promoting his Marathi film Ghar Banduk Biryani, directed by debutant filmmaker Hemant Awtade. Along with being a creative director, Nagraj plays a police officer sent to a Naxal-controlled town in the insurgency-ridden jungles of Maharashtra, India, to apprehend the Naxalist movement’s leader, portrayed by Sayaji Shinde.

Akash Thosar and Sayali Patil also play important parts in the film. Biryani Ghar Banduk. Ghar Banduk Biryani is Akash and Nagraj’s third partnership after Sairat (2016) and Jhund. (2022).
