“My film is a Tribute and requires no permission”: Karan Kashyap
Recently there were news about the yesteryear’s classic Souten which starred Rajesh Khanna, Tina Munim, Padmini Kolhapure is being remade in a bold new avatar by director Karan Kashyap which is titled ‘Souten-A New Threesome’. After the first look poster got revealed yesterday by the film’s lead actress Kavita Radheshyam, Veteran film maker Saawan Kumar Tak (Maker of original Souten) lashed out by denying any associations with the remake.
Kumar who is known for his ‘Souten’ stamp in Bollywood said “I have no clue who is this maker remaking my film. No permission is taken from me and no one even cared to approach me and i hear the film is already completed.” The maker is famous for churning out hits such as Saajan Bina Suhaagan, Saajan Ki Saheli, Souten, Souten Ki Beti, Sanam Bewafa to name a few.
On the other hand, director Karan Kashyap said “My film ‘Souten-A New Threesome’ is a Tribute to the classic and it requires no permissions. I am not making a biopic on Gandhi ji that i am compelled go to his relatives and seek permissions.”
Saawan Kumar has no plans to keep quiet on this issue as the maker has demanded to see the new version and will also proceed with legal actions “I will be talking to my Legal team tomorrow along with the Film Association people on this matter and proceed with the law.” said Saawan Kumar.
