Mumaz Sorcar is a popular actress from Bengal born and brought up in a family of PC Sorcar Junior the known magician from India. She was born with a name Pratiti Sorcar but renamed her the name Mumtaz Sorcar. She did her schooling from the known Modern High School for Girls in Kolkata, followed by doing her graduation in Arts and then her law from Calcutta University from the college called South Calcutta College. Apart from her academics, she was active in sports and participated in sports like boxing playing for the club called Bengal Amateur Boxing Federation. She also won gold medal from YMCA.
Mumtaz Sorcar debut was seen with the film called 033 directed by Birsha Dasgupta and later got the chance to work with No Poblem a Tollywood project directed by Shoumik Sen, which got delayed indefinitely. She was seen in music videos for the singer Mehreen who hails from Bangladesh and later was seen in a short film called Bhorai: The Maladies of Dawn, which was directed by Subharjit Mitra produced under the banner of NIBS. In the year she got the chance to work in a Bengali movie called Musalmanir Galpo, which was inspired by the story of Rabindranath Tagore of 1941.
She was then seen in a Tamil movie called Kolkatar Jongole and Rajbarir Rahasya respectively, which hit the theaters in 2011. She then got the film Bhooter Bhabishyat wherein she played the character of a girl called Koel wherein she had the actors like Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Parambrata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee and Mir. She then embarked with another suspense thriller called Kanchenjunga, which was directed by Arnab Ghosh. Her recent release was Irudhi Suttru while her upcoming movies include Raees and Dark Chocolate.
