Taapsee Pannu Starrer Thappad To Go Tax-Free in MP

Thappad tax free

Taapsee Pannu is an ace actress as far as her performance is concerned. The actress is all set to come out with her next film Thappad, which is coming this Friday. So, with just two days remaining for its release, the makers of her film have some good news. The film has been made tax free in the Indian State of Madhya Pradesh, which is ruled by the Congress-led government. Let’s check how it was made and the details.

As per reports, MP State Govt has exempted the film from the State GST for the three months from its release date. This means the movie will have no SGST for the three months of its release in the entire state. As per reports, a notice has been sent out by the State government to all the multiplexes and the single screens to shelve the SGST on the movie tickets. The tickets often have 18 percent of GST which includes half of it as the state GST that tolls to around 9 percent.

This is not the first film that was made tax free from the state. Earlier, the state government has made Deepika Padukone’s film Chhappak as tax-free that was released in Jan 2020. The film talked about the acid attack survivor story and her struggle, while for Tapsee Thappad is her second film to enjoy this privilege as her earlier movie Saand Ki Aankh was also made tax-free in MP and other states. Talking about Thappad, the film is about domestic violence and the lady who stands against it. It is all set to hit the screens on February 28.
