Fierce action to catch of Typical Salman with predictable script sums of Sultan

Sultan has an unusual day release, which comes on Wednesday rather than the usual movie release days (Friday). For 2016, Sultan can be called as one of the biggest days in B Town, which is almost here. The film is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar that stars Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma, Rnadeep Hooda and Amit Sadh in the lead roles.  The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The music comes from the talented duo music composers and directors – Vishal-Shekhar. The promos of the film have got a very good response and this Eid, Salman is back with another entertainer for his fans and audience. Time to dig in deep to get the crux of the film in the following paragraphs:

Plot

Sultan is basically a sports drama movie, which revolves around the life of a man called Sultan Ali Khan who is a wrestler. The film is inspired by a small town wrestler who comes from Haryana gaining global fame from winning the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi apart from the 2011 Wrestling Word Championship in Turkey followed by the one in London Olympics. The film showcases about the ups and downs in his professional and personal life, wherein he is asked to prove himself again at the certain age despite have the record of winning gold in a couple of prestigious tournaments at a certain stage. The film also showcases how he falls in love with a wrestler girl called Arfa plays by Anushka Sharma. Thus you get an opportunity to catch loads of drama, romance, fun and frolic things in the film.

Review

At one go, the film Sultan can appear to be very much appealing to the fans of Salman Khan and other other audience since it has loads of kickass wrestling scenes, the drama fond in the film. However, as you get deeply involved in the film, you realize that it is nothing but a typically Sallu baba film, the usual love and romance elements in it, the typical action and the maar-dhaad in it, which attracts many of his typical fans and yes the so called dance sequences in several of the songs in it. However, the film misses out the key elements –the edgy performance in terms of showcasing the right emotions on his face and other things. He may have won brownie points for his action sequences in the form of a wrestler also in the song sequences but he remains the typical actor in the remaining part of the film. The same usual dialect with the same old story being repeated n number of times too often in his film. The script earlier starts on an appealing note but soon loses its edge as it becomes very much predictable. Hence losing interest in the film is very much inevitable.

Performances

Salman Khan in many says was seen fitting into the character in many ways especially in the avatar of a typical fighter, which covers a huge chunk of the film apart from other sequences wherein he seems to dance and romance with his co-actor – Anushka. In these scenes he was superb and incredible, however, in others he seemed lagging behind with the same tone and interestingly that goes for a small amount of time. Hence looking at the overall picture, the performance of Salman Khan has gone okay. Next comes Anusha Sharma in the role of Arfa, she is cool and interesting both in her looks and typical fight sequences.  She has looked both hot and cool while portraying both her lady wrestler look and lady love of Sultan in the film. Next comes Randeep Hooda, he is too good in the character of a trainer; he has done justice to his role shaping himself the best in his life. The others in the film like Tyron Woodley and Amit Sadh too remained good in the film.

Direction, Music, Editing and other elements

The direction of Ali Abbas Zafar in the film Sultan is incredible; he has worked hard on the wrestler avatar of Salman the most, which has made him portray the right spirit of the action in the film. Thanks to the intense training of Salman Khan the same one, which made his conditions like a raped woman has made the director very nicely flaunt these scenes correctly.  And as far as other flaws of the film are concerned, he shouldn’t be solely blamed for it, let the blame go to the actors of the film. Music has been applauded for this film; most of its songs have been doing better over the silver screen.  The other elements of the film like editing, photography, choreography and other technical elements, seemed okay that helped together to add the entertainment value of the film in a big way.

Sultan Review – The Last Word

Sultan is a great entertainer as it has loads of action scenes to enjoy in the runtime of the film, besides showcasing the drama and romance in the film. Though one can find a couple of flaws in the script that make the film very much predictable yet it has a number of elements that can help the film to become a big grosser of the year. That goes for a toast for the film by Salman Khan’s fans giving it a better rating.

Rating – 3.5
