Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara Clears Censor with Cuts; Set for Strong Opening This Friday

Mohit Suri’s romantic film Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, is set to release this Friday, July 18, generating significant buzz. The excitement stems from its captivating trailer, hit soundtrack, and the strong backing of Mohit Suri alongside Yash Raj Films. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted Saiyaara a U/A 16+ certificate. However, the filmmakers were asked to implement certain changes before certification. Specifically, four instances of ‘objectionable’ language were censored and replaced with more appropriate terms, though the exact words involved have not been disclosed. Additionally, the CBFC required the removal and replacement of 10 seconds of visuals depicting sensuality, intimacy, and body exposure. Another directive was to add a static disclaimer emphasizing helmet safety in scenes featuring two-wheeler vehicles.

Once these modifications were completed, the film received its censor certificate. The final runtime listed is 156 minutes and 50 seconds — roughly 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 50 seconds.This marks the second consecutive week that sensual content has faced cuts by the CBFC. Last week, Superman was approved with a U/A 13+ certificate only after deleting 33 seconds of sensual visuals across two scenes—a story initially broken by Bollywood Hungama that sparked widespread public backlash, even drawing attention from Western media and fans.

Now talking about the film Saiyaara, the movie is all poised for a strong opening, with promising early numbers. As of Wednesday morning, it had already sold an impressive 45,000 tickets across major national chains — 33,500 at PVR and Inox, 11,500 at Cinepolis, plus 2,059 at MovieMax — indicating strong audience interest ahead of its release.
