Michael Biopic Hits Major Milestone with Over 1 Lakh Tickets Sold for Opening Weekend

The highly anticipated Hollywood musical Michael is witnessing a massive surge in momentum across India. Less than 24 hours after reporting sales of 78,000 tickets, the Michael Jackson biopic has now officially crossed the 1 lakh ticket sales mark for its opening weekend and paid previews. As of the latest trends, total sales have reached 1.13 lakh tickets, generating a robust ₹4.30 crore gross and counting.

Paid Previews Set for Strong Start

The film’s paid previews are showing exceptional strength, with approximately 28,500 tickets already sold. The revenue comes out to be ₹97 lakhs gross. With spot bookings expected today, collections for the paid previews are virtually guaranteed to surpass the ₹1 crore nett

Hyderabad Leads the Surge

The advance booking response in Hyderabad has been nothing short of phenomenal, with two specific properties stealing the spotlight:

  • Prasads Multiplex: The iconic venue has sold a staggering 7,300 tickets for the weekend alone.
  • ALLU Cinemas: Allu Arjun’s standalone property has outperformed several major exhibition chains, selling 6,500 tickets—a figure higher than the combined advances of MovieTime, Asian Cinemas, and MovieMax.

Positive Local Reception Defies Western Reviews

Despite critical reviews from Western outlets, Indian audiences appear undeterred. The buzz was further bolstered by a special screening at IMAX Wadala in Mumbai, which received an overwhelmingly positive response.

Attendees reportedly questioned the harshness of international reviews, praising the film’s execution. This strong local word-of-mouth suggests that the “aam junta” (general public) is ready to embrace the film, turning the biopic into a potential box-office success in the Indian market.
