Tigmanshu Dhulia is an actor who hails from Allahabad, UP. He is also a film producer, director and screenwriter. He was born on 3rd July 1967 in UP. His father was the judge at Allahabad High Court, while his mother was a Sanskrit Professor. He did his schooling from St. Joseph’s College, Allahabad and completed his junior college from Anglo Bengali Intermediate College. He then headed to Delhi to complete his graduation followed by master’s degree from Theatre from NSD (National School of Drama) in the year 1989. He did his graduation in English, Economics and Modern History. During his studies, he was also involved in his students’ politics and later headed to Mumbai to pursue his dreams in films.

Tigmanshu Dhulia In the year 1990, he reached Mumbai and soon got the chance to work as casting director for the film Bandit Queen (a biopic on Phoolan Devi) and then Bombay Blues. He then similar roles in films like Stiff Upper Lips wherein he also did a cameo in it. He then did other films like Tere Mere Sapne, Bas Itna Sa Khawab Hai, Family Ties of Blood, and Dil Se as Scriptwriter. He then acted in a number of other movies like Haasil, Charas, Shagird, Shaheb Biwi Aug Gangster, Gangs of Wasseypur 1 &2, Bullet Raja, Paan Singh Tomar, Shahid, Manji The Mountain Man, and many more.

Some of his recent movies include Zero, Baarish Aur Chowmein, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Raag Desh, and Hero. In the year 2017, he produced a love story called Ek Purani Love Story and Dhulia having a story similar to Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Besides, working as a director, screenwriter and actor, he also bagged a number of awards, which include the National Film Award for the Best Feature Film including Paan Singh Tomar wherein he bagged the award for the Director he also got the Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay for the same film. He then got the Best Director for the film Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster in the year 2012. He then bagged SAARC Film Festival for the Best Director for the film Paan Singh Tomar in June 2013.

He also did a number of TV shows like Kahani Ek Kanya Ki in the year 1991 aired at Doordarshan.
