Bio – Madhuri dixit is a renowned and popular actress in the Hindi Film industry. She is known for her charismatic beauty, dance performances and acting prowess. Madhuri debuted in the 1984 and later became known for her roles in the films Tezaab, Beta, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Saajan. In all of which she acted opposite the leading male actors of the time. Her dancing and association with the choreographer Saroj Khan is well known.
Madhuri, hailing from a Brahmin family in Mumbai, made it into film industry with Rajshri Productions’ Abodhin 1984. The film did poorly at the box office and it was followed by lesser known films like Awara Baap, Manav Hatya, Swati, mohre, Hifazat, Uttar Dakshin, Khatroan Ke khiladi, Dayavan. In 1988, she got her major breakthrough in N. Chandra’s blockbuster film Tezaab that went on to become a milestone in the career of both Madhuri and Anil Kapoor. Her character of Mohini became equally popular as the song Ek Do Teen . Madhuri shot into fame overnight with the song and dance which mesmerized one and all. Thereafter there was no looking back as she delivered hits after hits and became the first choice of all the filmmakers of the time. Her pairing with the then star Anil Kapoor was adored and the duo appeared in many films thereafter. In 1989, Parinda,was an acting brilliance by her though it was not as big a box office success as Tezaab.

In 1990, Dil with Amir Khan earned her the best actress Filmfare award and two years later, Beta repeated the same and Madhuri was now a household name with her dance moves in Dhak Dhak song for she is known as the Dhak Dhak girl. Sailab, thanedaar , Pyar Ka Devta one after the other, she received the best scripts and also those who were tailor made for her. Saajan, in 1991, was one of the biggest blockbusters of its time . The film has her opposite Salmaan Khan and Sanjay Dutt. Her chemistry with each of them is fabulous and the movie was loved by the audience. Khalnayak associated her with another Stalwart of the industry, Subhash Ghai and she sizzled on the screen in her role of Ganga, the police officer. In 1994, there came another landmark not only in her career but in the Hindi film industry in the form of Hum Aapke Hain kaun. The film is one of the biggest blockbusters of all time in Hindi film industry. The family Drama paired her opposite Salmaan khan once again and the role of Pooja, the youngster sister who falls in love with her sister’s Brother-in –law won her many hearts. Raja released in 1995 which again was a major hit. After this, Madhuri’s career came to a low point and her fewer and fewer films released each year. One of them was YashRaj productionds’ Dil Toh Pagal Hain in 1997 after which there came no major film in her career.
In 1999, she married Shriram Nene,an America based doctor and thereafter settled in the US for a decade. In 2002, she played the role of Chandramukhi in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas and won the Best actress in Supporting role Filmfare . Aaja Nachle in 2007, was termed as her comeback but the film failed to weave any magic on the screen. Madhuri is now settled in Mumbai with her husband and two young sons. She is currently working in Dedh Ishqiyaa, Gulab Gang and few others.
