It was a dual film release today – Luka Chuppi and Sonchiriya. Both are different films catering to a different audience. Well, let’s check how these films have performed at the box office on day one. Well, talking about the film Luka Chuppi, it is a film based on Live-in relationship of a couple based in a small town in North India. It is a laugh riot and has bagged good reviews at most of the portals and critics. Also, the film was promoted in a decent way gaining positive word of mouth to start with. The film opened up with 25 per cent of occupancy in the morning shows and slowly and steadily reached even to 80 to 90 per cent in the evening shows.
This helped the film to gain big at the box office. As per reports, the first-day box office collection for Luka Chuppi reached to around 7.2 Crores, which is actually a decent figure. As per the buzz, the film is likely to escalate its collection in the first weekend and likely to come close to 30 crores. Now, let’s talk about the other film called Sonchiriya starring ensemble star cast based on the dacoits and rebels. The film also had a decent rating, thanks to the excellent cinematography and incredible performances.
The film opened up with 5 per cent in the occupancy in the morning and later in the evening shows, it turned and reached even to 30 to 40 per cent. This speaks a lot about the collection the film has got. Ironically, the film was not promoted the way it should have been and perhaps the reason why it failed to do so was due to the fact that it was niche film and could only attract a certain section of an audience with similar taste. As per reports, the first-day box office collection for Sonchiriya is 1.75 crores and the weekend collection would not exceed to 7 to 8 crores.
