Abhimaan: Celebrating 50 Years – Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan Shot Climax the Day After Returning from Honeymoon!

The Big B starrer film Abhimaan has completed its fifty years in B Town. It is a 1973 Hindi film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Bindu, AK Hangal, and Asrani. The film revolves around a famous singer, Subir (Amitabh Bachchan), who falls in love with a village girl, Uma (Jaya Bachchan), and marries her. However, her rise to fame in the world of music makes him jealous, and he leaves her.

Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, the lead pair of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s iconic film Abhimaan, got married in June 1973, just a few weeks before the film’s release. However, the couple had to go back to the sets of the film immediately after their honeymoon in London to shoot the climax scene. Amitabh Bachchan has once revealed that the last scene of Abhimaan, where he and Jaya come out of the theatre after singing a song together, was shot on the next day of their return from London.

The last shot of the film of Jaya and me coming out of the theatre after singing the climax song, and the crowds mobbing and applauding us, was done the day after we returned from our honeymoon in London,” Big B once wrote on social media. The film was a huge success, and it helped to solidify the status of Amitabh and Jaya as one of the most popular couples in Bollywood. The film’s 50th anniversary is being celebrated this year, and it is sure to be a nostalgic moment for fans of the couple.

Bindu, who played the role of Chitra in the film, had shared in an earlier interview with Times of India that Amitabh and Jaya looked smitten by each other during the film’s shoot. She said that they looked “madly in love” with each other, and it was “visible” to everyone on set. Bindu also said that there was “nothing to hide” about their relationship, and they soon got married.
