Ranveer Singh is removed from ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’?

There were reports last week that Ranveer Singh had replaced Vicky Kaushal in his dream project ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’. According to media reports, the producers sought Ranveer since they were no longer confident in Vicky’s box office pull.

However, according to a recent media rumour, the talk between Ranveer and film’s makers has failed and producers are no longer interested in working with Ranveer due to his string of flops. Continue reading to learn more.

A new Bollywoodhungama report quoted a source saying that producers are looking for an actor who can pull audiences in hordes to the cinemas. Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited film ’83 (2021) failed to appeal to audiences, especially the masses. And his last two releases Jayeshbhai Jordaar (2022) and Cirkus (2023), meanwhile, were outright flops.

“Although the producers, Jio Studios, began talks with Ranveer, they quickly realized as the talks progressed that there was a significant financial risk in bringing him on board. The Immortal Ashwatthama is a very expensive film, and post-pandemic, the box office has become very unpredictable.  The film is likewise expected to be huge-scale, and they required an actor in whom they could securely commit their large sums. Ranveer did not meet their expectations. So they chose to let him go rather than take a risk”, the source added as per report.

Now according to several media sources, producers are intending to cast South Indian actors like Jr. NTR and Allu Arjun who can have a pan-Indian appeal as a superstar.

Aditya Dhar will direct ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’, which has been plagued by casting and financial issues over the years. Following the great success of Vicky Kaushal and Aditya Dhar’s previous collaboration, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019),’ the project was revealed in 2019. Production was supposed to start in 2020, however it was pushed back due to the coronavirus outbreak. It has now been announced that Jio Studios has taken over production duty.
