Vijay Deverakonda and Karan Johar were against casting Mike Tyson in Liger. Know Why?

Vijay Deverakonda had a lot of expectations from his movie ‘Liger’ which was endorsed as one of the biggest movies of the year. But everything turned upside down with the movie failing miserably at the box office, causing a huge tragedy for the actor. From large-scale promotions to bringing legendary boxer Mike Tyson onboard, the makers did it all. However, nothing could help them get the audience’s approval. They described it as a formulaic movie that lacks a story.

Do you know that Vijay and Karan Johar were against the idea of roping Mike Tyson for the cameo? Shocking, right? But that’s true!

According to the latest media reports, Karan Johar and Vijay Deverakonda were not ready to pay Rs 25 crore to Mike Tyson for just playing a cameo role. It was director Poori Jagannath’s stubbornness, and he was adamant about casting Mike Tyson.

Reports say that Liger producers have suffered a huge loss as the movie failed to perform at the box office. It has also been reported that filmmakers have promised to compensate for the losses.

Liger producer Chamme Kaur recently talked about the continuous box office failures of big projects in Bollywood and how it has endangered the industry. The movie’s Hindi version could only collect Rs 4.50 crore on Friday. While the movie was released on August 25th, it should have earned much more by now. It had a very low screen count on Thursday and managed to gross just over Rs. 1.25 crore on that day.
