CBFC Censors ‘Kantara Scream’ in Rahu Ketu; Middle Finger Replaced with Pinky Finger

The comic caper Rahu Ketu, starring Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Shalini Pandey, Piyush Mishra, Chunky Panday, Amit Sial, Manu Rishi Chadha, and Sumit Gulati, is set for release on Friday, January 16. The makers completed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) process earlier this week. Bollywood Hungama brings you an exclusive look at the film’s cut list.
The CBFC granted Rahu Ketu a U/A 16+ certificate but requested several changes. A particular dialogue was replaced, and all scenes depicting drug sniffing and snorting were modified with appropriate alternative shots. Notably, the middle finger gesture was altered to the pinky finger wherever it appeared in the film. Additionally, all visible alcohol brand names were removed. In a unique demand, the makers were asked to provide an authentication letter for the Sanskrit shloka featured in the film.
Another notable edit involved the Examining Committee instructing the removal of the ‘Kantara film music (voom) scream’ from the soundtrack. After these changes were implemented, the makers received the censor certificate on Monday, January 12. The certified runtime of Rahu Ketu is 139 minutes and 40 seconds—approximately 2 hours, 19 minutes, and 40 seconds.
Produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal, Suraj Singh, and Varsha Kukreja under Zee Studios and B-Live Productions Pvt Ltd, Rahu Ketu marks the reunion of Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma following their successful collaboration in the Fukrey series. Interestingly, Vipul Vig, the writer behind Fukrey (2013), Fukrey Returns (2017), and Fukrey 3 (2023), makes his directorial debut with this film. During the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and India Entertainment Awards 2025, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Chunky Panday, and Shalini Pandey promoted Rahu Ketu.
Pulkit shared, “Since the first Fukrey released, Varun and I have received countless offers to work together. It’s painful because the offers were lucrative. When we rejected so much money, that’s when we realized we are good people! We only value meaningful work.”He added, “We were clear that if we were to do a film together outside the Fukrey series, it had to be very interesting and a grade above Fukrey. That’s where Rahu Ketu comes in. It’s a fantastical world with exciting characters, and the story unfolds in a heartwarming way.”
