Kunal Kamra Rejects Bigg Boss Offer: Says He’d ‘Rather Check Into a Mental Hospital’ Than Join Salman Khan’s Show

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has revealed that he was approached to participate in the upcoming season of the reality show Bigg Boss, hosted by Salman Khan. Taking to Instagram, Kamra shared a screenshot of a conversation with a casting director who reached out to discuss the opportunity.
In his Instagram Stories, Kunal posted a chat with an individual claiming to be a casting agent for the new season, known for its controversies and drama. The casting director’s message read, “I am handling the casting for this season of Bigg Boss, and your name came up as someone they might find interesting. I know it might not have been on your radar, but honestly, it’s such a mad platform to show your real vibe and win over a massive audience.
What do you think? Should we talk about it?” Kunal’s response was clear: “I would much rather check into a mental hospital…” He accompanied the story with a song from Salman Khan’s film Radhe. It remains unclear whether Kunal was approached for the upcoming season of Bigg Boss OTT or Bigg Boss 19.

Recent Controversy Involving Kunal Kamra

Kunal Kamra has been in the spotlight recently due to controversy stemming from comments he made about Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a stand-up show in Mumbai. These remarks led to police summons and an FIR filed against him for alleged defamation and public mischief. Compounding the situation, Kunal has reported receiving around 500 death threats following the incident, prompting him to leave Mumbai and seek safety in his home state of Tamil Nadu.

He has since approached the Madras High Court, where he successfully secured interim protection against potential arrest by the Mumbai Police related to the FIR. Earlier this week, the ticketing platform BookMyShow responded after Kunal publicly asked them not to “delist” him and to provide accurate information regarding the situation. Their statement indicated that “facts have been misrepresented,” clarifying their role in the ongoing issue.
