Following her appearance in Tu Yaa Main (2026), actor Shanaya Kapoor is set to star in Student Of The Year 3, which marks a major departure in tone and format for the popular franchise. Produced under Karan Johar’s digital banner, Dharmatic Entertainment, the third installment transitions from the big screen to a web series format.
While Student Of The Year (2012) and Student Of The Year 2 (2019) were lighthearted, high-school feature films, Student Of The Year 3 adopts a darker, edgier, and more intense tone. Industry sources report that the show is being crafted in the style of Class meets Euphoria, blending the high-pressure lifestyle and privilege of Indian students with bold, emotionally turbulent themes. The new direction aims to broaden the franchise’s appeal to a wider digital audience. Directed by Reema Maya, the upcoming web series is rumored to feature Shanaya Kapoor in a double role. Though reports have suggested the tentative title Student Of The Year 3 – After The Dark, an official title confirmation is expected alongside upcoming promotional reveals. The show is slated to premiere on JioHotstar.
The original 2012 film, directed by Karan Johar, launched the careers of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra. Its 2019 sequel, directed by Punit Malhotra, starred Tiger Shroff alongside debutantes Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.
