Actor Kartik Aaryan is set to headline Dharma Productions’ largest and most ambitious project to date, titled Kaaliya. Directed by Sandeep Modi (The Night Manager), the high-budget, mytho-based creature feature is scheduled to begin principal photography in December 2026.
The project brings together three National Award-winning talents: Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion), director Sandeep Modi (Best Friends Forever), and producer Karan Johar (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani).
Grand Diwali Announcement Attached to Ramayana
According to industry sources, the official announcement for Kaaliya will take place during Diwali featuring a high-impact video asset. To maximize its reach, the promotional asset will be attached to the theatrical prints of the multi-starrer epic Ramayana across global cinemas.
“Karan Johar and team are collaborating with Kartik Aaryan for their biggest and most ambitious film till date… The film will be announced this Diwali with a strong video asset. The same will be attached to the prints of Ramayana all across,” a source revealed to Bollywood Hungama.

Pre-Production and Scale
Rooted in Indian mythology and mounted on a massive budget, Kaaliya represents a unique venture into the creature-feature space for both Aaryan and Dharma Productions. The film is currently in active pre-production as the creative team prepares for its December shoot.
