Kareena Kapoor’s Advice to Actors Obsessed with Stardom: First, Put on a Shirt

Kareena Kapoor recently offered her insights on achieving stardom in Bollywood, emphasizing the importance of acting talent beyond physical aesthetics. While acknowledging her contentment with the industry, she highlighted the need for substance beyond “six packs” in a conversation with Film Companion. Additionally, without naming names, she lauded her cousin Ranbir Kapoor as a “phenomenal actor,” subtly underscoring the value she places on acting prowess.

Following her earlier comment hinting that younger actor like Ranbir Kapoor raised the bar in terms of acting, Kareena Kapoor embraced the shift wholeheartedly. When asked if acting prowess is essential for stardom, she enthusiastically declared, “I’m so happy that we are finally there!” This response underscores her belief that good acting and big-screen success are now intricately linked, functioning as a “hand in glove” partnership.

True stardom comes from being a great actor, having talent, and connecting with your audience. It’s not about six-pack abs and hot looks. Puh-lease! Sometimes I just want to tell those actors, ‘Put your shirt on! I can’t even focus on your acting when you’re walking around half-naked.

Reinforcing her stance on acting prowess, Kareena emphasized its lasting power in the industry. “Being a good actor guarantees longevity,” she declared, turning to Bobby Deol, their fellow interviewee. “Look at Bobby, exploring diverse characters and finally showcasing his undeniable talent. You simply can’t suppress good acting forever.” Bobby echoed her sentiment, acknowledging the difficulty of finding roles that truly unleash an actor’s potential.

Kareena Kapoor, a powerhouse of talent, has been captivating audiences with her diverse roles. She recently donned the hat of a detective in Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller “Jaane Jaan,” alongside Jaydeep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma. Now, she gears up for another intriguing character in Hansal Mehta’s “The Buckingham Murders,” which already made a splash at the prestigious BFI London Film Festival.

But Kareena isn’t one to rest on her laurels. Her upcoming slate overflows with exciting collaborations. She joins forces with Tabu and Kriti Sanon in the comedy “The Crew,” promising a delightful dose of girl power.
