Kalank remains the last release of Karan Johar before his other film Student of the Year 2. The film was a mega-budget venture, however, it did not give that kind of collection the makers were expected. He called Kalank to be a project very close to his heart since his late father has been contemplating to make the film and he has been working on it since the past 15 years. However, the audience did not like the film keeping it at the back burner.
The film did well on the first day and the first weekend, however, it failed to do well at the box office in the long run. Now, with an average collection at the box office, now, Karan Johar the film producer seems to have taken the responsibility of its failure at the box office. He said he and his team has worked a lot to make the film work but it failed to do well at the box office. He said he takes the blame on him to work.
He said that he should be blamed for being the maker of the film for its debacle. The actor who recently turned one year older was seen talking about the film and its failure. He said he should have taken care of the audience and their taste and have researched more about the film. He said he was very much attached to the film emotionally. He then applauded the actors in the lead role – Alia Bhatt, and Varun Dhawan for their hard work. He also applauded the other star cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri for making their best efforts for the film.
