You know that feeling when you and your friends have nothing better to do, and someone suggests, “Let’s do something crazy”? That’s the vibe of Kapkapiii—except instead of pulling a prank or ordering too much food, this group decides to call up a ghost. Welcome to the most haunted boys’ house you’ve never stayed in!

This gang consists of six average and unemployed guys sharing a first-floor rental, completely unproductive with their time. One is trying to make it big selling tea, another failed to sell a toilet, and one hasn’t worked in years yet has opinions on everything. Together, they share an abundance of boredom.

Performances

Shreyas Talpade shines as the semi-leader of this chaos, Manu. He’s a charming and clueless guy who always seems to do the wrong thing for the right reasons. Tusshar Kapoor joins the fun as Kabir, a hapless soul just looking to nap on the sofa, who gets swept up in the ghostly mayhem. His bewildered expressions could easily fill a meme directory. It’s a joy to see the chemistry between Shreyas and Tusshar on screen; the duo is fantastic!

What’s great about Kapkapiii is that it never goes overboard. The jokes feel improvised, the frights are more about “oops, I dropped my phone” than “hide under the blanket,” and the overall atmosphere is just plain fun. It’s like watching your friends attempt ghost-hunting based on YouTube videos without a shred of common sense.

Yet beneath the humor, there’s a poignant element to the film—it marks the last directorial effort of the late Sangeeth Sivan. You can sense his playful spirit behind the lens, with a delightful tempo and an affection for absurd storytelling that doesn’t pretend to be anything more.

Produced by Jayesh Patel and Vipin Agnihotri, Kapkapiii is the perfect slumber party film—ideal for late-night viewings with snacks, friends, and someone who keeps insisting, “This isn’t scary at all,” until the lights flicker.

The last word

Is Kapkapiii a revolutionary film? No. But is it exactly what you need after a long week of adulting? Absolutely. It’s ridiculous, messy, and surprisingly scary in parts. No moral lessons or deep reflections—just laughs, minor jump scares, and a bunch of lovable goofballs you can’t help but root for.

So go ahead—turn off the lights, gather your crew, and enjoy the ride. But maybe give that carrom board a rest; you never know when Anamika might want to chat!
